I watched episode 7 of Prophets of Science Fiction. Today’s author was Robert A. Heinlein which I didn’t know before. Shame on me, because he wrote the novel “Starship Troopers”. I only saw the movie but I loved it, since it was so over the top and beyond, that I imagined every person involved must have an anti-war mentality. No way someone actually produced this as a serious SciFi-war-story.
But today I learned that he, Heinlein, actually was glorifying the military. He himself being a member of the U.S. Navy and afraid of communism,
also wrote “Stranger in a Strange Land” which became on of the blueprints for the Hippie movement, which he disliked.
Never the less the way the series presented his works (of course) is reason enough to place all the mentioned books on my to-read list.
